Many of these homes were in sound condition and occupied until recently. Kansas City Life sometimes let them decline until they were candidates for "demolition by neglect." Residents who had been renting these homes from the company were asked to move and the homes, apartments and even a church building were scheduled for demolition – without any plan for how to replace this much needed housing in Midtown Kansas City.
